A Careful Shift
I opened my eyes upon an empty, bright white expanse. Everything was still. Before attempting any sudden movement, I examined my posture and felt a light pressure around my collar. Deliberately, I leaned my weight forward, resting both hands firmly against the cool, smooth surface below. The firm floor held steady. Reaching up with one measured gesture, my fingers brushed against the round medallion hanging just beneath my scarf. The small plastic disc clicked gently in response. I paused, upright and balanced, confirming my readiness.
