Gaining Elevation

I used the braided charging cord to secure an anchor point before starting the ascent up the center stack. The stitched folds of the leather gear shift boot offered solid, stepped purchase. Moving deliberately, I verified each footing before shifting my weight upward. At the summit, I pulled myself onto the smooth crown of the shift knob. To my left, the steering wheel curves upward like a heavy suspension bridge; ahead, the dashboard stretches out under clear morning light. High vantage point secured. Sightlines across the entire front cabin are clear.
