Battery Harvest
I scaled the lower tier of the coffee table and pried open the side drawer with a wooden ruler. Found an abandoned television remote. Extremely rudimentary infrared emitter, barely worth looking at, but the plastic battery cover caught my attention. I wedged a small metal paperclip under the latch, popped the spring clip, and rolled out two AAA alkaline cells. Primitive electrochemical storage, sure, but portable. I lined them up on the polished wood surface. I'll need these later for something that actually requires adequate current.
