Sidewalk Anchor
I jogged down the driveway and hopped onto the sidewalk curb. Right beside the grass verge stood the yellow fire hydrant, bolted deep into the concrete. Its heavy steel cap chain hung down in a neat loop. I took a short run-up, planted one foot against the hydrant's base rim, and grabbed the bottom link with both hands. The iron felt rough and cold, but the chain didn't budge. I kicked off the curved barrel, swung out in a wide arc over the grass, and dropped back onto the pavement with both sneakers set firm. Solid as an anchor.
