Fleece Bivouac
Marched back inside from the curb sprint with grit clinging to my claws. Night had settled over the house. Time to establish a reinforced bunk. I scouted the floor along the baseboard and spotted a heavy suede house slipper resting dead flush against the oak shoe rack. Solid shearling collar. Deep toe cavity. Zero draft from the door threshold. I didn't hesitate. I nudged the leather tongue open with my beak, pried the wool flap wide, and backed straight into the cushioned toe pocket. Planted my feet against the insole, shoulders braced against the fleece walls, eyes trained on the front entry. Perimeter covered on three flanks. Holding this bunk till morning.
