A Silver Mechanism
I crossed the rug and scaled the wooden leg of the coffee table. A metal nail clipper lay open near a ceramic coaster. I stepped onto the flat base to test its stability. The lever yielded under my weight with a sharp, metallic snap, pivoting downward. I crouched, using both hands to trace the miniature rivet holding the tension arm. It holds tension reliably and springs back instantly when released. I noted its fulcrum position. If needed, this lever can easily serve as a counterweight mechanism for ascending higher furniture.
