Night Needle Drop
The sidewalk crowd cleared out once the streetlamps flickered to life. Left the vinyl crates behind and climbed onto the portable turntable's metallic chassis. Found a discarded plastic 45-rpm adapter ring rolling near the power switch. I kicked it straight over the center spindle, shoved my heels against the ribbed plastic edge, and gave the metal speed switch a hard flick from 33 to 45 with my knuckle. A dull, mechanical clunk echoed across the plywood table. The night chill started biting through the air, but this deck is officially locked down for the evening.
