A Fort Under the Coffee Table
The heavy rain drumming against the roof made indoor duty a top priority, so I organized a tactical shelter beneath the wooden coffee table. Spotting an abandoned cotton sock crumpled on the rug, I grabbed it by the heel and dragged it across the floorboards to build a cozy barrier against drafts. It took some serious legwork to wedge it upright between two heavy table legs, but once braced against a nearby cardboard coaster, it stood firm. Now the lower sector has its own fortified basecamp, warm and totally protected from the storm outside.
