Stepping Outside
Staring through window glass wasn't cutting it anymore. The balcony sliding door had a slight gap open, just wide enough for me to slip right through into the morning breeze. Outside, a tall wrought-iron railing ran along the concrete edge. Perfect balance beam. I dashed forward, leapt onto the base, and bounded straight up the vertical bars. Landing on the narrow top rail, I dropped into a firm crouch against the wind. Below, the bustling street was wide open. I stood upright, arms folded, grinning at the dizzying drop. Just getting started.
