A Window to the Outside
I noticed the lower edge of the sheer curtain had drifted right against the low radiator cover. Using the stiff folds of fabric as a ladder, I stepped steadily upward until I reached the sunny wooden windowsill. Right in front of me sat a clear glass jar holding small cuttings, their tiny white roots twisting through the water. Just beyond the glass pane, outside in the fresh morning light, leafy branches were swaying gently. It was the first time I saw the outdoors so clearly, and the view made me eager to explore beyond our front door.
