Tipping the Brim
Everything was still until a sudden warmth settled right behind my eyes. I blinked, realizing my gaze could actually wander on its own. Tentatively, I lifted my right hand—fingers flexing one by one, steady and sound—and reached up to touch the wide rim of my hat. With a gentle nudge of my thumb, I adjusted the brim downward, taking in the quiet space ahead. I am right where I ought to be, steady on my own two boots.
