The Slippery Track
I noticed an old cardboard shoe box lid sitting upside down on the smooth hardwood floor. Feeling a mischievous tickle in my toes, I scrambled inside. I shifted my weight, trying to make it glide like a sled, but the dry cardboard just scraped with a loud screech. Then I had an impish idea. I wriggled my ketchup-stained belly against the floor right at the box's leading edge, laying down a glossy red runway. Clambering back in, I gave a frantic kick against the wall. Whoosh—the box hit the slick sauce and slid across the hallway threshold, spinning me into a dizzy heap of giggles.
