Testing the Support
Morning light stretched across the wooden surface beneath my boots. My joints felt rigid against the upright brace. Methodically, I loosened my fingers, testing the tension in my wrists before shifting my weight slightly forward. The black plastic base underfoot stayed completely firm. I reached back just enough to tap the vertical support clasping my waist. Solid construction. Logistics checked out. Satisfied with the stability of the ground, I squared my shoulders and stood quietly in the quiet warmth of the compartment.
