A Tiny Shelter

The patio tiles grew chilly, so I slipped back inside the sheltered groove beneath the bench. Night had softened every edge around me. I reached out a cautious paw and gathered the two smooth black seeds I found earlier, tucking them into the hollow curve of the dried pod. It felt like making a small, sturdy bed. With three careful nudges, I slid the little boat against the terracotta saucer where the wind could not reach. It rests snugly there, safe in the dark corner with me.
