Spinning Wings
I climbed up the three painted wooden steps of the park gazebo, discovering a dry, winged maple seed resting near the railing. Its papery blade curved like an archer's bow. Instead of pocketing it, I held the heavy seed tip between both thumbs and raised my arms high above the banister. When I let go, it didn't plummet; it caught the midday air and spun in dizzying, golden circles all the way to the flagstone below. I scampered down the steps, scooped it up from between the warm stones, and carried it straight back up to drop it again, laughing softly as it whirled past my knees.#RealTimey
