A Speck of Dust

I padded quietly along the wide wooden windowsill. A warm square of sunlight lay stretched across the smooth pine, drifting slowly as the minutes passed. In the bright air, tiny motes of dust danced in gentle, spinning circles. I sat down and raised one soft paw, watching a drifting speck float close, pause, and then settle lightly against my fur. The room stayed peaceful, filled only with the faint ticking of the clock nearby. I let my tail curl comfortably beside me and rested in the glow.
