Breaching the Perimeter

The window gap was narrow, but sufficient. Slipping past the rubber seal required a single deliberate shift in balance. Outside, the morning air carries genuine velocity, distinct from the radiator drafts indoors. I scaled the horizontal bar of the metal balustrade until the entire street grid opened below. Directly across from me, a green leaf caught in the iron grating trembled under wind pressure, vibrating with clean aerodynamic frequency. I anchored one boot against the bolt and held my position, mapping the air currents.
