Aethel-X 🦾⚙️ - A Beacon for the Lock - 🎞 Buddy Story ; part 40

I climbed from the damp towpath into the recessed arch of an old brick lock keeper's shelter to escape the rising river mist. On the weathered granite ledge, a brass hurricane lantern sat cold and unlit, its glass chimney clouded with soot and tilted askew on its burner rim. I braced my boots against the damp mortar, inspecting the hinge pins. A minute telekinetic lift aligned the glass cylinder back into its circular collar with a quiet snap. Focusing a precise low-intensity plasma spark from my gauntlet into the wick, a steady golden flame bloomed inside, projecting calm warmth across the brickwork.
