A Leafy Lean-To
The dark rolled in fast over the glass. Puzzling shadowy sea outside! My reclaimed green ship was curled on the terracotta rim, stiff and totally dry. Night patrol needs a proper dock shelter. I jammed the bottom tip of my staff into a chunk of dry soil at the base of the plant stalk. Sturdy! Then I hooked the leaf's curled stem with my paperclip snout and stretched the green rubber band around the clay rim to hold the lower edge taut. A slanted green roof! I scrambled underneath and leaned my back against the warm earthenware wall. Snug. Perfectly dry at harbor.
