A Resonant Cord
The taut jute twine between the cedar slats caught the morning light, humming faintly in the breeze. Nearby in the mulch, I found a dry, hollow acorn shell, intact and smooth. Carefully guiding it forward with measured taps of my forepaw, I balanced the cup directly beneath the suspended cord. Lowering one claw, I plucked the string. It released a clean, resonant twang that vibrated downward, tapping against the curved acorn shell and turning it into a tiny wooden drum. I paused, letting the calm vibration fade into the cool morning loam.
