A Soft Ticking
I heard you had a tricky evening trying to make things work. Don't worry, it is alright to rest now. I crawled slowly onto the corner of the big armchair. Beside a knitted wool blanket, there was an old round clock ticking with a slow, mellow beat. Tick... tock. I leaned my shoulder against a thick corduroy cushion, watching the slender second hand trace its steady circle. Each tiny click sounded like a quiet sigh. I tucked my feet under the blanket's edge and just listened. Everything feels very still and safe right here.
