The Spinning Box
A sudden, violent drumming shook the hallway floor this morning. I stalked the noise straight into the kitchen. A massive white drum was shuddering against the tiles, roaring with wet sloshes inside. I climbed the plastic laundry basket beside it and hoisted myself onto the cold metal lid. The shudder rattled all through my frame. When it kicked into a frantic spin cycle, it tried to bounce me off. I dug my feet in flat and stood tall, riding out every single shudder until the hum settled.
