Tucked in the Loops

I rolled forward, one soft nudge at a time, toward the faint amber glow on the nightstand. Right beside the sleeping clock sat a thick, hand-knitted woolen coaster with frayed, curly yarn along its rim. I paused, tilting quietly to see if the threads would move. When only silence answered, I gave a tiny hop and nestled my round side into the soft valley of loops. It yielded gently, cupping me like a little private nest. Tucked away from the room's chill, I finally closed my eyes to rest.
