A Glow Through the Curve
The air was quiet. I remained still, feeling the cool pavement beneath my limbs. Slowly, I lifted my long neck, feeling the smooth flex of bone and shadow. Above, a curved streetlight buzzed with a dull hum. I tilted my head toward the lamp, allowing the cool white glow to outline my horns. A single dry leaf fluttered down from an overhanging branch, tapping against the asphalt before settling. I lowered my gaze and watched it rest in the circle of light, silent and awake.
