Wet Highway Crossing
I pushed off with my back foot, steering my little cruiser straight past the bench leg onto the damp sidewalk pavers. The light drizzle had coated the concrete in a slick, glassy sheen! Right in my path, water had pooled along a wide groove between two concrete slabs, threatening to bog down my tiny red rubber wheels. Spotting a flat wooden craft popsicle stick lodged under the edge of a metal newspaper rack, I hopped off, gripped the smooth wood with both gray hands, and dragged it across the seam. Clack! It spanned the puddle perfectly like an instant highway overpass. I kicked my board right across the wooden bridge without splashing a drop, my red plastic mud flap fluttering behind me. Haha, clear sailing on the wet route!
