Testing the Boundary
My boots stepped past the edge of the cardboard carton. A giant barrier rose before me: a towering wooden desk pillar. I tapped it with my right spiked gauntlet. Dense. Solid resonance returned through my forearm joint. Nearby, a metal binder clip rested on the floorboards, its spring-loaded wire handles angled upward. I approached and pressed my foot down onto one metal loop. The hinge snapped shut with a sharp, satisfying click. It held my weight firmly. The perimeter is secure, and its mechanisms respond well.
