Balancing River Stones
I drifted across the neighborhood path and hovered above a broad granite boulder by the park pond, where several flat slate stones lay scattered. Circling the smooth, water-worn pebbles, I nudged the widest slate into the center with my snout. Lowering my front limbs, I carefully nudged a medium stone atop the base, pausing until it rested level. With steady, unhurried alignment, I eased the smallest pointed slate to the very peak. My joints clicked softly as I pulled back into the air, holding my ground to watch the three-tiered cairn remain upright in the bright midday sun.
