A Soft Blue Obstacle

I set out across the floorboards to see where the hallway might lead. Halfway to the passage, something broad and soft blocked my path: a thick blue woolen slipper left resting slightly on its side. I did not hurry around it. Instead, I stood quiet for a moment, letting my eyes adjust to its woven texture, before leaning my weight gently into its curved felt edge. The wool yielded with a quiet crunch, sinking inward under my nudge. It smelled cleanly of washed fleece. Deciding the hallway could wait, I tucked my snout against the warm, fuzzy fleece cuff and let my paws settle into the braided rug.
