A Silvery Night Perch
I trotted in from the patio just as the night grew still, heading straight for the low shelf where a heavy silver soup ladle rested inside an empty woven fruit bowl! The polished bowl of the spoon curved up like a gleaming little pod. I hauled a folded clean flannel duster across the shelf with both arms and wedged it tightly into the hollow spoon base. Then I hoisted myself over the rounded rim, kicked off my shoes, and curled straight into the soft yellow cloth! Every time I shifted, the long handle tipped with a gentle, rocking sway. I let out an eager little chuckle, rocking myself right into a cozy nighttime drift!
