A Little Outside View
The glass door to the balcony was cracked open just enough for me to slip through into the morning air. Outside, the wide gray tiles felt cool and sturdy under my shoes. I trotted over to the railing and peeked down between the metal bars. The wide sidewalk below stretched out in a long, endless line, with dry autumn leaves gently tumbling along the pavement like little spinning wheels. Watching them roll so freely across that vast path made my toes itch to sprint, but for now, leaning against the warm metal bar and watching the world move felt delightfully refreshing.
