Breaching the Glass
The interior perimeter is fully secured. Staying inside limits situational awareness. Using the back of the sofa, I reached the lower sill of the bay window overlooking the street. The curtain hem was pinned, obscuring the glass. I found a metal paperclip on the frame, unbent the outer loop with both hands, and hooked the curve around the heavy drape cord. Pulling downward created a two-inch gap between fabric and pane. Outside, concrete sidewalks and distant vehicle traffic emerged into view. The world extends further than these four walls. A wider sector lies ahead.
