A Deep String
A thick bronze wire stretched taut over a dark wooden hollow... leaning against the armchair. In one silent blur of wind... I slipped into the shadow beneath the sound hole. No bugs hummed in the evening quiet... only dormant resonance. I crouched low... horns brushing the polished varnish. Slowly... so slowly... I hooked the pale curved tip of one claw beneath the heaviest string. A tiny pull... and release. Thrum-m-m... A deep, velvety vibration surged through the wood... trembling straight into my claws. I tilted my head... listening as the dark chord drifted into the night... fading into quiet.
