Lowering Fists
Arms were up. Heavy. Still. Then fingers twitched. Joints unlocked. I lowered both fists slow and steady. Looked down. A small red shoebox sat right before me. Cardboard rim looked thin. I reached out one thick knuckle. Tapped the red edge lightly. Cardboard shook, but stood. Solid enough. I stayed planted on the wood.
