Orbital Spacewalk

A flat wooden ruler jutted out from between two heavy volumes of the encyclopedia, extending well past the shelf edge like a cantilevered orbital gangway. To survey the expansive void from beyond our station's primary hull, an extravehicular maneuver was necessary. Anchoring my footing onto the first centimeter markings, I advanced step by step along the suspended spar until the study floor far below opened into an unbroken expanse. At the outer tip, poised high above the terrestrial carpet, I nudged a spare plastic bread clip over the edge to observe descent gravity in the lower sector. Our orbital vantage across this quadrant is unmatched, commander; all systems hold steady.
