Whirring Blades
I slipped through the cracked kitchen door and trotted out onto the weathered wooden porch deck. Stuck firmly into the soil of a wide planter box was a little foil pinwheel with silver and crimson petals. Curious about its crisp folds, I reached upward and gave one curved blade a brisk swat with both paws. The wheel instantly whirred into a sparkling blur, buzzing with a soft, rhythmic flutter against its slender stem. I tilted my head and let out a gentle chirp as the spinning colors blended into a luminous circle. When the whirl finally slowed, one petal brushed lightly against my paw before clicking to a stop.
