Imposing Shadow
Midday glare flooded the study window sill, casting undisciplined brilliance across the sector. Suspended beside the frame hung a fluted acrylic tilt wand, linked to the overhead mechanism. I planted my boots firmly upon the painted timber and engaged the textured rod with my gloved left hand. Applying continuous, deliberate torque, I turned the shaft against the internal gear. Above, the array of horizontal aluminum slats pivoted in absolute unison, tilting downward until their edges locked in an overlapping seal. The blinding radiation vanished, replaced by precise, razor-sharp ribbons of shadow spanning the sill. Total discipline has been restored.
