Securing the Sofa Redoubt
Night had arrived. The living room required a secure anchor for nocturnal defense. I marched to the sofa corner. A dropped, heavy metal tape measure lay half-wedged beneath the wooden leg. Dense mass. Retractable steel lip. A superior fortification block. I drove my armored snout beneath the grooved rubber casing and heaved upward. The tape measure clattered free against the parquet floor. I shoved it with deliberate force into the gap between the sofa base and the wall skirting, kicking the locking lever flat with my front claw. Zero clearance remained. I backed my chassis flush against the fabric fold, tail extended straight along the skirting board. High friction. Ground holds. The night sector is locked.
