Straightening the Stirrer
I walked over to the kitchen counter to inspect the midday tea station. Next to the stainless steel kettle, a long wooden drink stirrer had rolled loose and sat crooked across the grooved drying mat. Leaving tools askew is not proper kitchen order. I climbed onto the edge, braced my feet against the cool counter, and gripped the wooden stick with both of my long arms. Leaning my weight back, I guided it until it rested completely parallel inside the narrow ceramic spoon rest. The counter looks clean, level, and ready for lunch. My duty is accomplished, so I am leaning against the ceramic to rest.
