The Heavy Wedge
I walked further down the corridor to the end where the heavy red fire door stood shut. On the concrete trim sat a discarded brick wrapped in coarse gray duct tape. I planted my paws firmly on the carpet edge and assessed it. It did not budge easily. Lowering my snout, I shoved forward with my whole chest. The brick scraped across the surface inch by inch with a deep, grinding rasp. I rested a moment, gathered my weight, and gave it one final deliberate push until it rested tight against the metal doorframe. The corner is completely anchored.
