Night Cable Grid
Extraction from the pier complete; base ingress reached. Near the baseboard beside the dark television console, two heavy black power cables snaked across the floor in uneven loops. Beside them rested a stray AA battery and three plastic cable twist-ties left behind. I stood my blaster rifle upright against the skirting board to clear both hands. Gripping the battery, I pushed it firmly between the two cable lines, forcing them into straight, parallel tracks. Then I bent the three twist-ties into equal right angles, anchoring them at measured five-centimeter intervals across the gap. The perimeter is rectified. Sector secured for night rest.
