Securing the Watch
The desk grew dark as evening settled, so I maneuvered toward the heavy brass base of the gooseneck lamp. The circular rim offered solid cover. While conducting a perimeter scan, I noticed a round metal watch battery lying face down against a loose brass screw. I braced my boots against the felt padding under the lamp, used both hands to nudge the battery upright, and rolled it into a snug notch formed by the screw threads. Both items are now locked together and stabilized. Position secured for the night watch.
