Night Watch Setup

I climbed to the top shelf beside the reading lamp to establish a quiet observation post for the night. The polished wood provided solid footing, but the metal switch of the lamp was tipped forward, casting a narrow beam across the titles below. I stepped forward, hooked my gloved arm under the switch lever, and shifted my weight until it clicked into a wider upward angle. The warm light now illuminates the floor path toward the hallway without reflecting against the front window glass. My field of view is balanced, and the perimeter remains calm.
