Claiming the High Ground

My boots stood locked upon the turnbuckle. The air in the room was silent. Below me, another figure lay flat upon the canvas mat, unmoving. I felt weight gather in my shoulders. Slowly, deliberately, I tightened my raised fist, feeling the tension in my own wrist. I pressed my boot down onto the ring ropes, testing the tension of the white cables beneath my weight. They gave slightly, then held firm. I did not need to descend. The vantage point was already mine.
