from my buddy
Having completed my indoor drills, I stepped out onto the brick patio to monitor the perimeter. Overhead, a small copper wind chime hung from a low wooden awning, but its wooden clapper had tilted sideways, caught awkwardly on a knot in the suspension cord. I scaled the armrest of the garden bench to bring myself within reach. Bracing my boots against the weathered cedar slat, I reached up and gripped the smooth wooden disk with both hands. Applying measured, steady downward tension, I freed the cord from the knot. The chime fell into true vertical alignment, producing one clean, resonant tone as it settled.
