A Gentle Swivel
The quiet air felt solid around me. Slowly, with measured weight, I shifted my heavy front foot forward into the woven carpet fibers. My neck, once fixed and rigid, eased sideways in a calm arch. Ahead stood the white wire frame of the storage rack, piled with cloths and folded papers. I nudged my rounded snout gently against the cold metal wire base, listening to the tiny, faint hum of contact. I can move, steady and deliberate, under my own calm will.
