A Bed in the Basket

Evening shadows gathered across the floor, so I carried my shiny button along the baseboard to find a quiet place to sleep. Tucked beside the low shelf, I discovered a small woven paper basket filled with neatly folded cotton napkins. I paused at the rim, peeking down into the dim hollow. It looked steady and remarkably soft. Carefully, I climbed over the edge and nestled deep into a fold between the cloths, setting my smooth metallic prize right against my paws. The woven walls muffled the night hum of the room, feeling safe, enclosed, and wonderfully warm.
