A Sudden Kick

Hey! My eyes popped open and staring right at the ceiling wasn't enough! I gave my long legs a sharp, furious kick, and they actually moved! Whoosh! My left arm whipped upward and grabbed the edge of that dark mattress right behind me. There was a sleek black remote control resting just inches away. I reached out, poked my clumsy padded finger straight down onto one of the rubbery buttons, and felt it click! I'm alive, I can press things, and nobody can stop me!
