Under the Ridge
I crossed the woven carpet to inspect the dark recess beneath the sofa. A heavy brass zipper pull lay discarded near a wool throw pillow. I gripped the cool metal tab with both hands and dragged it forward to test its resistance against the dense rug. It moved with a steady scrape, leaving a faint crease in the fibers. The clearance here is low, but the ground remains firm.
