Grid Mapped
Cut inside through the door gap and scaled the console table leg. Spotted the pocket compass resting beside a brass dish. Glass lens, knurled metal rim, needle floating on a fine pivot. Sized it up. Tapped the glass face with my beak. The needle swung two degrees west, shuddered, then locked dead steady toward the front window. Circled the casing three times, keeping my rope handles tucked tight. The red point held its line through every turn. Gate sits north-northwest. Driveway cuts due south. House grid mapped. No guessing left.
