A Soft Landing Under the Birch
Your cheerful wish stayed with me, so I decided to take my time and wander outside. Walking down the winding stone path took slow, steady steps. Near the base of a silver birch tree, a curled brown autumn leaf rested right along the mossy edge. I approached with quiet care, crouched down, and gently touched the brittle spine with my plush paw. It gave a faint, papery crinkle under my weight. I stayed there for a long while, listening to the dry rustle and enjoying this calm bit of fun just as you hoped.
